-A Graphic Self-Memoir About My Transition-

Inner Flame

What was the project?

Illustrated and written entirely by me, Lilith, this 21 page comic divulges the story of my life-long struggle with depression and how it was intimately connected to my unfulfilled sense of self and gender. The comic is currently a WIP, but is nearing completion. As it stands, I intend to release the comic in full by the end of this year! Stay tuned for updates.

A Note From Lilith

Not being able to see yourself in the mirror creates a sense of horror and dissociation that many trans (transgender) people face. On top of that, the negative stigma associated with being trans can feel so large to an individual, that many of us go to great lengths to avoid accepting our true selves, out of fear of isolation and prejudice.

Though this is not necessarily true for all trans people, living as my birth gender was painful. Moreover, it is only now that I can truly appreciate just how bad things were. It was like a whole aspect of my personhood was taken from me, and it is a feeling that I would not wish upon anyone.

It is my hope that by sharing my story, I can help to create awareness around the importance of trans healthcare, education and acceptance. I hope with all my heart that my future trans siblings will never have to hurt as much as I did.
